Through mediation and counselling, large number of pre-litigative cases can be settled and thereby mounting arrears of cases can be reduced in Court of Law. Conciliation is essentially a consensual process and is achieved through the technique of mediation. Counselling and Conciliation centers have been set up in the Office of the State Authority, District Authorities and Sub-Divisional Committees to encourage the settlement of dispute by way of negotiation and conciliation.
Any person can apply for counselling and conciliation of pre-litigative disputes in prescribed form, supplied free of cost, to the Member Secretary of the Authorities/Committees. While the counselling and conciliation center functions from 3 pm. to 5 pm. in the office of the District Authorities and Sub-Divisional Committees, the said activity is carried out in State Authority’s office from 2 pm. to 5 pm.
Judicial Officers, Advocates, Resource Persons as well as eminent Women Social activists act as the conciliators in the centres.
